Here are the guidelines for cooking contest:
Important: Cooking contest food should not be given to the public.
There are three categories: Appetizer, Entree and Dessert. Please register your name under one of these three categories.
Cook at home preparations must be vegetarian dishes without onion and garlic.
Bring your favorite specialties of regions of India like Punjab, Bengal, Andhra, Kerala, Gujarat, Rajasthan etc...
The size of a typical restaurant order for one dish. It is appropriate to prepare suitable accompanying items to your dish such as chutneys, dips, sauces, relishes, etc.
Dress up in regional costume and explain the traditional and cultural aspects behind the food. You can describe the recipe, and the special festival or occasion when the item is cooked and served. Feel free to prepare the information in the form of attractive displays.
Please don’t forget to bring appropriate serving spoons, and (at least 6 each of) plates, forks, spoons and paper napkins for the judges.
At the festival:
Please arrive by 12.30 pm at the "Competition Area". Ask volunteers (wearing yellow Ananda Mela T-shirts) if you need help locating the Competition Area.
TIME: SATURDAY 28th JULY, 2PM to 4PM
RULES AND REGULATIONS OF MEHANDI / HENNA CONTEST:
Contestants should create their mehandi / henna individually, not as a team with other henna artists. REGISTER HERE
Location: Front side of Redmond City Hall main building
Should be at the venue by 1.30pm.
Participants should bring their own mehandi cones.
Participants should apply mehandi on the palm as well as the dorsal side of the hand.
Participants can apply mehandi on their own hand or any other person"s hand. They have to bring that person.
Participants are not allowed to use any design book or any kind of such material.
Participants should cover the entire required area.
Judge's decision is final under all circumstances.
The winners will be announced on both days at a brief prize distribution ceremony at 5pm on the main stage. Participants are required to be present at this ceremony.
Intricacy of design
- Rangoli art should not exceed the foam board size of 3 ft x 4 ft Rangoli competition is from 1pm 3pm on Sunday July 29th.
- Your Rangoli art should be completed by 3pm, ready for judging.
- Location: Front entrance to the main building of Redmond city hall
- Should be at the venue by 12.30pm.
Please bear in mind that your Rangoli art should not offend the viewers and is presentable to viewers of all ages.
Participants need to bring all the required materials for their Rangoli. The foam boards will be provided by us. Rangoli should be prepared from scratch on the foam boards provided. No part of the Rangoli can be pre-made before arriving to the competition.
Judges' opinions will determine the winners.
The winners will be announced at a brief prize distribution ceremony at 4pm on the main stage. Participants are required to be present at this ceremony. Multiple entries by one person are not allowed. Please track info on www.anandamela.org for updates on the contest.
Judging will be based on the following Criteria
1) Overall Appearance and appeal
3) Details and clarity in Rangoli art
4) Color combination
5) Creativity, new ideas.
